I am writing to invite you to my telephone town hall on the issue of pet safety during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 shelter in place order.
This call-in event will be Tuesday, March 24 at 3 p.m.
My guests for this Town Hall will be:
Melanie Sadek, Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton.
Brandy Kuentzel, general counsel and advocacy director, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, San Francisco chapter.
We will be discussing whether pets can transmit COVID-19; ideas for building your relationship with your pet while isolated together; safe pet exercise options that comply with social distancing and stay-at-home orders; updating your preparedness plan so that your pets have care if you are unable to be with them; how animal shelters are operating during this crisis; and what people can do to help animals from home.
There is limited capacity for this call. If you wish to participate please RSVP by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24. A follow-up email will be sent to you with the call-in phone number and passcode.
To RSVP for this event, please click here.
Because of the number of participants, we will be taking only written questions for this conversation. Please submit any questions you may have before or during the call to [email protected].
You may submit questions whether or not you intend to participate. A recording of the Town Hall will be available at my website at https://sd07.senate.ca.gov/ Recordings of the first five Coronavirus Town Halls are already on the site.
I am holding these town halls to make experts available to answer your questions about this dangerous virus, how our public and private institutions are handling it, and what we can do as individuals to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
I know that these developments have created great stress on everyone. Thank you for taking the time to be as informed as possible so we can keep each other safe.
